After much mystery and rumor the true story of the origin and evolution of The ZONE has finally emerged. 

In mid 1995 a portal to the future, a breach in the time-space continuum if you will was discovered in central San Diego, California.  This portal allowed travelers from Earth to enter an underground city of the far future.  To house and protect this entry into the portal a complex known as ULTRAZONE was erected and the underground city became referred to as “The ZONE.”  After months of effort, in August of 1995 it finally became possible to Enter the ZONE for brief periods typically no more than 15 minutes although some brave travelers have been rumored to remain in the ZONE for as long as 60 minutes.  Confronted with a world amazing in its scope and advanced development; these original explorers, affectionally known as “Zoneheads,” paved the way for expeditions into the thrilling experience that many report have changed their lives forever.  Much has been written about these original adventurers.  They were given special Zone aliases to commemorate their feats of bravery  Names such as Zonehero, Lady Death, SnikSnak, PacMan and the infamous time warrior Trigga Happy resound though ZONE lore.  Presently referred to as “The Ultimate Laser Adventure” this thrilling experience is now of course quite common to the degree that over 1.5 million people have made the journey into The ZONE.

The legend of The ZONE has emerged as follows.  Apparently, a highly advanced future civilization flourished on a planet in a remote galaxy.  Unknown circumstances, perhaps environmental, perhaps cataclysmic in ways we cannot begin to imagine, forced abandonment from life on the surface of the planet.  Survival required that these beings now live underground.  Entire cities were created below the surface of the planet.  The most advanced of these cities was called ENOZARTLU, which we on Earth now refer to as simply “THE ZONE!”  Possibly in attempt to reach out to the stars and contact beings from other worlds this civilization created sophisticated time travel entry portals.  It is one of these portals that was discovered in San Diego in1995.

Initial exploration of the city found it to be mechanically fully functioning but completely devoid of all sentient life forms.  It had been abandoned.  Three intricate base stations were discovered, each designated, for reasons unknown, by a distinct color.  The Red Base Station is a thermal generator responsible for all power to the city.  The Blue Base Station is a water purification structure.  Finally, the Yellow Base Station is a complex air handling edifice that seems to capture, purify and hold the underground atmosphere.  Certain vantage points reveal that the city is in what seems to be a massive underground cavern.  The atmosphere, while breathable is filled with a type of fog, and the light source is ultraviolet resulting in an eerie nocturnal environment.  Entrance into the base stations engages an audible warning system against intruders.  While nothing is certain it appears there were great struggles among three distinct tribes to capture the base stations thereby ultimately controlling the city.

More advanced exploration revealed that the original inhabitants had left behind highly sophisticated electronic sentries or “Sentinels.”  Ostensibly serving as guards against invaders, the Sentinels once activated release powerful green laser-like beams that immobilize those hit for a brief period.  The most recent discovery in 2004 was truly shocking.  An entity, perhaps an indigenous species but more likely an invader captured and then abandoned by the original inhabitants was found caged in a bizarre maze-like area.  While still trapped it remains armed with a laser-like device that sweeps large areas with a powerful green beam that can immobilize those on the receiving end of its piercing swath of light.
